The CARS Late Model Stock Tour began its reign as an elite short track series in March of 2015 when it held its first race at North Carolina’s Southern National Motorsports Park. On that date, 14-year-old Todd Gilliland, the son of longtime NASCAR® racer David Gilliland, also made a name for himself by taking the inaugural CARS Tour victory in a white, black, and red-trimmed car for his family team.
Gilliland will be turning back the clock to that historic day in 2015 with a special throwback paint scheme on his No. 38 gener8tor Ford Mustang for Front Row Motorsports. Gilliland’s car for the Darlington Raceway NASCAR Cup Series® race in May will feature the same colors and stylized number design that his No. 98 Late Model Stock Car had in Southern National’s Victory Lane after his first and only CARS Tour win.
Now, Lionel Racing - the Official Die-cast of NASCAR® - is excited to make Gilliland’s No. 38 gener8tor Throwback die-cast available for order. Produced on Lionel Racing’s newest Ford Mustang Dark Horse tool, each 1:24-scale replica is available in two distinct trim levels – an Action Racing Collectables (ARC) hood-open model and a fully die-cast ELITE version that is built with an opening hood and trunk, plus a chassis plate that can be removed to reveal a detailed undercarriage. Each die-cast also features rolling Goodyear tires, a driver-side window net, hand-applied decals, and more. A 1:24-scale die-cast plated in gleaming Color Chrome and a 1:64-scale die-cast are also on offer. Each die-cast will feature the retro logos, the DGR (David Gilliland Racing) logos inlaid in the numbers, the Southern National Motorsports Park logo above the door.
